Yesterday I was lucky enough to visit the Red Kite Feeding Centre in Wales . It was a 2 and half hour journey from Pelsall and very much worth it.
We got there before opening time and parked up and had our lunch. It opened at 1p.m and we headed to the hides. There are five hides some better than others with a extra charge depending on which. We were just in the standard, which were
fine. They were nice and clean with benches, and the view over the feeding field good. We had to wait until 3 p.m for the feeding, but those two hours went so quickly and the hides filled up pretty early. Over those two hours we watched the Kites circling a few in numbers then as the time neared the numbers multiplied. Other birds around were Buzzards, Crows, Rooks and Ravens.
The tractor bringing the meat for the birds drove into the field and the sight above was amazing. There was no way you could count the Kites there must of been over a 100 birds. The meat was on the ground and they swooped down one by one, and the sky was still full of Kites, exlaimations of "Wow", "Amazing " could be heard.
We were also lucky enough to see the rare White Kite.
